Cellulite: How To Get Rid Of It

Hello my Darlings,

Today I wanted to write about a very requested subject – cellulite. A few days ago I made a video about it in Russian, but subtitles sometimes takes me over 8 hours to complete, so I thought it would be much better if I write a full blow post about it here on the blog.

In this article I am gonna go over the real way to get rid of cellulite. If you ever heard a myth that it’s impossible to get rid of cellulite, then it’s just that – a myth. The truth is, you can get rid of cellulite and have smooth legs and butt.

When getting rid of cellulite, most people focus only on the proper nutrition and exercise, but it is not enough to control cellulite. The real way to control cellulite is to balance your hormones, only then the right nutrition and exercise will be effective.

Our hormones control everything in our body and if they go out of balance so does everything else.

Women who have cellulite are estrogen dominant. The reason so many women even young girls are estrogen dominant is because of foods they are eating. Most foods now days are grown with pesticides and antibiotics, meat unless it’s organic is filled with growth hormones.

If you look back at a few generations ago, very few people had cellulite, both my mom and my grandma don’t have cellulite, and I didn’t even know what cellulite is till I moved to US and say young girls in my school have it. Because in the previous generations food was grown the natural way. So now the only real way to get rid of cellulite is to balance out your hormones and get rid of all foods in your diet that will cause an imbalance.

 

So how do be balance out our hormones?

 

Eat the right kind of fat every day

 

So many people make a mistake by cutting out fat from their diet. Good fat doesn’t make you fat! Its the processed fat free foods that do. In order for our hormones to be balanced we need to eat good fat every day with every meal.

Good fat is: Organic Eggs, Coconut Oil, Raw Nuts ( almonds and walnuts are the best ), Coconut Milk, Olive Oil, Avocado.  I have a post called ” Fat Explained “, I suggest you take a looksie because I explain how much fat you should be eating daily.

Oils that you should avoid at all times : Soybean oil ( it’s hiding in a lot of foods these days, check your ingredients list at all times ), hydrogenated oil ( another product that is hiding even in so called healthy foods ), vegetable oil.

 

Avoid anything with SOY

Unless you are on menopause you should avoid soy products. Soy contains a lot of estrogen and as I mentioned above soy bean oil is everywhere these days.

If you really love it, you can have just a little and only organic.

 

Eat More Fish

Fish contains a lot of minerals, and lack of minerals can cause a hormonal imbalance. Try to eat fish at least one a day.  It can be salmon, tuna ( even canned tuna is good ), or any other fish of your choice.

 

Take Maca Powder

Maca is a true superfood, it is an adaptogen. Not only will Maca help you to balance your hormones but it will also strengthen your immune system and help you develop energy. What ever imbalance you have in your system maca will help you bounce it back to place. It will also help you to get rid of PMS. I wrote an article about Maca a little while ago, so make sure you take a looksie.

 

Mexican Wild Yam Cream

This is another little gem that not a lot of people know about. This stuff is simply amazing, it will really help you to balance estrogen in your body. I use it all the time so I don’t ever get PMS nor cramps. If I ever feel pain in my back or my stomach, all I do is rub a half teaspoon on to the place where I feel a cramp and the pain disappears.

Make sure you get the one with all natural ingredients and the first ingredient has to be – Mexican Wild Yam. All you have to do is apply a half a teaspoon a day to areas of your body where the skin is the thinnest, such as wrists, chest, below your belly button and your neck.  Everytime you apply the cream it has to be on a different spot then you applied it previously.  The cream goes into your pores and does it’s magic.

 

External Ways to Help with Cellulite

 

Dry Skin Brushing

The trick to do this the right way is very firm brush. It really helps to increase circulation in the body. The brush that I use is a hair brush, instead of a regular body brush. Because I was never been able to find firm enough for me body brush, so I bought a hair brush which looks like this:

What you gonna do is this: Before you take a shower you will brush your skin in circular motions, starting at your toes, all the way up to your waist and really focus on your problem areas. The dry skin brushing should be about 10 minutes long.

 

Coffee Scrub

We all know that caffeine is added to all of the firming creams on the market. But nothing is better than the real thing. After you did your dry skin brushing, jump into the shower and wait 5 minutes or so for your pores to open up. Apply coffee all over your legs and leave it on for 5 minutes. Make sure you give it a good scrubbing – also in circular motions.

 

Mexican Loofa

This is the secret my husbands aunt shared with me. She had a baby when she was 40, and she told me that for the first time in her life she got cellulite. But since she was still doing flying trapeze she needed to get in shape fast, most women who work in the circus lose baby weight with a month and go back to work. So the secret to her losing cellulite was this Mexican loofa. It’s not like the regular loofa it looks like this:

 

How to get rid of cellulite

 

You can find it in a spanish store in the dish washing section. You can use this loofa instead of your skin brushing, or you can do both if you have persistent cellulite. What my husbands aunt did was massage her legs and problem areas every day in the shower with this loofa in circular motions, you skin should be red after use but this is normal.

 

Intense Interval Running on a Hill

This method is very effective! You shouldn’t do more than 20 minutes and no more than 3 times a week. If you are running on a treadmill raise your incline either at 10 -15 and you will run as fast as you can for exactly 1 minute, then one minute of walking, you will switch back and forth between the two intervals. The first 5 minutes on a treadmill should always be a warm-up, also only do this type of running on the days when you are not strength training.

If you are running outside and can’t find a hill then you can just do regular running, but it has to be even faster than you would run on a treadmill.

When you combine all of these tips together plus eating well and doing strength training workouts 4 days a week, even the most stubborn cellulite will disappear!

        I have to agree with Elizabeth–you look AMAZING in the bikini pics, and much more to my aesthetic than the Anna picture above, though she is beautiful as well. :) This post is just WONDERFUL. I have spent hours scouring the web for a compilation of information like this. The soy thing is interesting–I eat a fair amount of soy, mostly in the form of edamame, and I grew up eating a fair amount as well. I will try replacing it with other things, maybe avocado if I’m looking for something filling and fish if I’m looking for protein. I love that you shake up what the “experts” tell us (I never believe experts anymore, LOL). I also love that you point your readers towards natural products, the source if possible. Makes everything a lot easier! And cheaper! :)

          I’m with you, I don’t trust the experts, I believe these same experts got people where they are at now, I hear so much absurd info on youtube and read the most craziest things on the web, I think at this point so many people are confused on what they should do and how they should do it. I think if people go back to basics of food nobody would struggle.

            Yeah, I basically don’t trust ANY study I read about. It’s made me distrust the monopoly on truth that science has, which I know is like saying I don’t believe in God during the Spanish Inquisition, but I think it limits our perspective. I think it’s also very American (maybe?), to turn towards the doctors and experts in white coats…maybe because we’re a relatively young culture. Anyway, i always appreciate your perspective. It has also made me realize how much of what we believe as truth has been fed to us. I don’t think it’s a conspiracy, I just think it helps companies make money. Like…for cellulite cream!

My cellu appeared about 8 years ago when I lost a lot of weight after a painful breakup, it was no a healthy way, I stopped eating and was only smoking and drinking, I was 19 and had 49 kilos, and it showed a lot on my legs and butt, especially after I gained back. It never went away no matter what I did. Oh, Buffy Bodybutter by Lush did help me a bit :-) I am gonna follow your tips for sure! :-)

    Soy is EVILLLLL!!! One of the worst food ever claimed to be great by the food industry (because it’s cheap and resistant in its transgenic variation…). Not only produces homornal imbalance as Tati says, but it’s also a predator of natural environments. Most soy is transgenic, requires lots of space to produce and make the land infertile in a relatively short period of time. And it’s used in lots of food in form of flour, oil, etc. Even some cosmetics have some soy ingredients, like glycine soja oil. Be careful especially if they’re deodorants..!! (directly into your glands!!)

      Yep, until you are able to smooth things out, then you can cut it down to 3 times a week.

      You can find the yam cream on ebay, the best brand is by “at last naturals”, the supplement I’ve never tried.

    This may be a silly question, but when you talk about the coffee rub, can it be coffee grounds that have already been used to make coffee? Or do they need to be pre-used grounds? I’m absolutely going to use it as an excuse to smell like coffee all day……it’ll keep me nice and calm! HAHA Thanks for the info!! Also, I was reading on Maca powder, when I found some information that eating raw maca powder can mess up thyroid levels as well as being really hard on the digestive system. Apparently to reap it’s benefits it’s supposed to be eaten after cooked? Just curious, there’s so much good/bad info out there on absolutely everything.

      You can definitely use any coffee grounds, they don’t have to be fresh, used one’s will be good as well.

      I take my maca raw, and I would recommend for it to be taken raw, it makes more sense to me.

        True. I had just read from locals that had grown up with Maca and said they were always told it was dangerous to take it raw, so I was just curious. I guess some people had developed some bad digestive issues, but I guess they also sell a gelatanized version which is supposed to be easier on the digestive system?       Fabulous article Tati, and good thyroid question Revolta. I am hypothyroid (and have avoided soy for years now) and had been having horrible hot flashes for a couple of months. I recently heard about raw Maca Powder and starting putting it in my protein shake. It immediately knocked the hot flashes flat and I regained my sanity! I used it for maybe 4-6 weeks and got back on schedule and feel great. I will always keep some around now, but I should get my thyroid levels checked again. I’m definitely going to check out this Mexican Wild Yam cream too, because I STILL have some spots…

        The cream will definitely help you even more, it’s a great product. Make sure you apply it the right way, it needs to be applied in the parts of the body where the skin is the thinnest such as chest, inner thighs, below the belly button, inner arms. And you always have to use it in a different spot every time you apply it.

I looked up the At Last Naturals Wild Yam Cream and saw the ingredient list has soybean oil in it, is that going to coincide with the oils to avoid? I know you mentioned it’s put in a lot of foods, but is it a big deal if it’s in the cream?

    Wow, great info here! I’ve never really known what to believe about cellulite, but last thing I’d resort to are those ridiculously priced cosmetic creams… so THANK you for sharing all these natural remedies!!! :) And I’m glad I already cut out virtually all soy-containing foods a long time ago– Mike Geary’s articles had really drilled it into my head how bad that stuff was lol.

    Think it’s practical though to start working to reduce cellulite when a person still has a fair bit (20lbs or so) of weight to lose?

    Tati, THANK YOU for recommending wild yam cream. It’s something I heard about years ago while working in health food stores but totally forgot about. I bought some yesterday and tried it for my menstrual cramps. It works wonders. That and Mag Phos tissue salts. I think some of the dietary changes I made about 4 months ago have also helped, but girl, let me tell you, I had my first pain-free period in 15 YEARS and I’m just about over the moon about it! First time in that long I wasn’t totally debilitated. on the floor crying and pounding advil like it’s going out of style. Pretty dang miraculous if you ask me!

    I am going to continue with the yam cream and some of your other suggestions and see if i can’t improve my rear-view too. I eat good fats (in love with coconut oil and avocados), avoid soy like the plague and take maca every day. Hoping adding some interval uphill running and dry brushing will do the trick. I am determined to have a cellulite free summer next year! :)

    One question – do you dry brush every day?

      I am so happy it worked for you, I love using it and I haven’t had cramps in years.

      Yes, I do dry brush every day, it’s part of my ritual now, I started doing it probably 7 years ago, and i love it. Back when I started doing it because I discovered some under skin fat, and when I started doing the dry brushing it went away, so I stuck with it.

    Hi Tatianna-

    I love your blog! It’s really helpful! I am sure I am estrogen dominant, after looking up some of the symptoms.
    I am not sure just scrubbing with do the trick. I just started Maca, and will purchase the Wild Yam cream. However, are there any other supplements/superfoods/creams/oils/powders, that you have used for cellulite/estrogen dominance that have been affected (I’m not overweight, but my cellulite is bad!!)
