Always Do What You Are Afraid to Do!

It was a high counsel that I once heard given to a young person,

“Always do what you are afraid to do.”
-Ralph Waldo Emerson-

I personally at times have a hard time pushing my self.  It is probably one of my biggest flaws.
It is easier to just give up,  but I feel that the reason we think about giving up is fear. Fear of Life , Fear of  Failure  and Fear of Success.   Because success comes with a lot of responsibility,  and often judgement from others.   It takes a certain character to handle that type of pressure.   Anyone can build that kind of character by pushing through the things we are afraid to do the most.   When we push through our fears,  we are building a house for our spirit.

I had a blessing of opportunity in my life to try Flying Trapeze.  I always wanted to do Flying Trapeze.  And I knew nothing about gymnastics or anything aerial at all.  Once the opportunity presented it self,  I had to just push through my fear. I was afraid of highs and I was afraid to fail, and I was afraid of judgement from my friends.  I still don’t know how I did it,  but I did it.  I couldn’t even believe that a person like that was not even able to do a pull up or hang on to a bar for 5 seconds, could clime up 40 feet up and do the things that I did.

Push your self, you can do anything you want.  The world is limitless.

What did you think about my post?  Do you have fears you want to overcome?
