Meet Me On Monday

Hello My Lovies,

Happy beginning of the week and welcome to the forth edition of Monday Mingle, a question answer game that is now a tradition of Loving Fit every Monday. Β I ask 5 themed or random questions and we all get to answer them so we can get to know each other better. Today’s theme is “YOU”.

Before I get to the questions I would love to give a shout out to Irinochka, she gave me the idea for the last question of today’s Mingle and I thought it was brilliant!

Today’s questions:

Describe your self in 3 words ( It’s a question without the question mark πŸ˜‰ )

What do you love about your self the most, what makes you unique?

What are your favorite hobby or hobbies?

What is your favorite book of the moment or favorite book of all time and why?

What dreams did you have when you were a child? Did any of those dreams came true?

My Answers:

Q – Describe Your Self in 3 words

Meet Me On Monday

My Answer:

Yep, that sums it up :), I am all about creativity and living outside the box. Β Everyone always tells me that I am funny, you should see the little dances I do at home all the time, they are quite silly actually and my husband always makes fun of me and my imagination of coming up with them. Β And I’m pretty sure you already saw my sarcastic side, I just can’t help it, the words pour out of my mouth and I can’t seem to stop them and I always say what I think.

Q – What do you love about your self the most, what makes you unique?

Meet Me On Monday

My Answer:

Just like my answer above, I think the most unique thing about me is my creative side. Β I am sure I possess other qualities but creativity is my favorite quality I have.

Q – What are your favorite hobby or hobbies?

Meet Me On Monday

My Answer:

Writing poetry and recording songs. Β I have a mini studio in my house and I use it all the time.

Q – What is your favorite book of the moment or favorite book of all time and why?

Meet Me On Monday

My Answer:

My favorite book at the moment is ” The Book Of Secrets ” by Deepak Chopra. This book makes you take a deeper level of understanding in life and it’s quite easy to read.

Q – What dreams did you have when you were a child? Β Did any of those dreams came true?

Meet Me On Monday

My Answer:

This is the most difficult question for me because when I was a child I didn’t have a lot of dreams. Β I didn’t develop real dreams till I was about 17.

When I was a child I felt like my life was forced on me and I didn’t have a choice of what I wanted to be. I was living my grandmothers dream and she wanted for me to be a figure skating star. Β As I grew up and developed a dream, that dream was to do Flying Trapeze and work in a show. Β That dream came true and when it did It was incredible feeling.

Describe your self in 3 words
    That’s a toughy…hmm…I would say -determined
    – creative
    – positive

What do you love about your self the most, what makes you unique?
I think the fact that no matter what obstacles life puts in front of me, my first instinct is to always try and find a way over, under, around or any other way to get past that obstacle instead of just giving up and shutting down.

What are your favorite hobby or hobbies?
I go through phases but overall love anything and everything. A few of the top ones are music, art, horse-riding, fitness and cooking. Oh! And creating!

What is your favorite book of the moment or favorite book of all time and why?
To pick a favourite book of all time would be impossible for me πŸ˜› But at the moment i’m reading ‘A Storm of Swords’ by George R. R. Marting which is really good.

What dreams did you have when you were a child? Did any of those dreams came true?
Of course as I child I went through many phases of wanting to be a doctor, vet, film star, singer etc. But as I grew up my mind wasn’t really focused on wanting to be one particular thing. It might have been the way I was brought up but I grew up with an open mind to whatever comes my way and that way of thinking is still applied today πŸ™‚

Thanks for this Monday mingle Tatianna! It’s interesting to read other peoples answers but also interesting to answers these questions myself and i’ve learned a few more things I didn’t know before ^_^

    Have a wonderful day!

    • jt

I think it’s really nice to be able to focus on what life brings and make the best of it πŸ™‚

    • As I was reading through all of the comments I realized that all of us here are very like minded and creative, it gave me a really warm happy feeling.

  • Describe your self in 3 words ( It’s a question without the question mark )
    – A friend of mine said to me that I was the most ‘real’ person she knows. I am me and I do not try to be something that I am not.
    – Determinated
    – Hard working
What do you love about your self the most, what makes you unique?
    Being ‘real’ πŸ™‚
What are your favorite hobby or hobbies?
    – Fitness/sports, designing workouts, jumping like an idiot on an amazing track at home (and on my own), listening to music, reading, art (visiting museums etc), spending time with friends, going to the movies
What is your favorite book of the moment or favorite book of all time and why?
    (can’t choose :P)
    – the picture of Dorian Gray by Oscar Wilde. It seems like a light reading but it has a deeper meaning but written with humour.
    – the light of day (dunno the author anymore). There is constant chill in that book.
    – The shock Doctrine + No logo by Naomi Klein. Klein keeps us informed
    – Charles Dickens, Jane Austen, Bronte etc etc. I love the combination of (british) history and fiction
    – The millenium triology: keeps you glued to the books.
    – Harry Potter. The real world is sooo boring! Who wants to drive a car when you can fly on broomsticks πŸ™‚

What dreams did you have when you were a child? Did any of those dreams came true?

    • jt

The Harry Potter comment LOL :DDDD

    • Diana

I love British authors as well! πŸ™‚

      • πŸ˜€ any tips for me?

        • Diana

Well, I am not sure I can recommend you authors with historic novels, but I also like: Terry Pratchett, Douglas Adams, Agatha Christie (everyone knows her but her stories are from the “era” that I loved the most in history class), E.M. Dell, Sir Walter Scott (he said to be THE writer of the British history)… that is all I remember now… In school we learn more about classic Russian/German/Italian writers… in case you would like to start reading Hungarian literature/history I can help you more… lol

    • WOw congrats on your personal trainer title! ( in a couple of weeks πŸ™‚ ). I also wish I could fly on a broomstick. There is a funny saying about a broomstick ” Women are Angels, but when you brake our wings we continue to fly on broomsticks. We’re flexible like that πŸ˜‰ ! “

      • I LOVE that expression about broomsticks and woman! hahahhahaha πŸ˜€

  • jt

Heyyy Tati and everyone! Have you all a wonderful beginning of the week! πŸ™‚

    Now here to my answers…

    1. Fun lover, animal lover, health nut lol πŸ˜€
    2. Hrm, I really love my cooking skills!! Because I love to eat and share delicious meals with my loved ones.

    3. Workout, learn, cook.
    4. Ahhh that must be “Watership Down” by Richard Adams. I’ve read it like over 30 times maybe, since I’m 9 (maybe that’s not a lot but I’m not obsessed, I just love it :P). It’s an epic story that shows some wonderful values like friendship, comradeship, patience, compassion, persistance, hope… The character development and story is great and far from being corny in any sense. The descriptive character of it is really enjoyable and not superficial or filler, it simply gets you there. It’s very balanced with dialogues and situations. One of those books that leaves a nice aftertaste everytime you put it down, and makes you feel eager to resume. Simply brilliant!

    • jt

Oh I forgot the last one πŸ™‚
      5. I dreamt to travel to far away places from where I lived, I did it to some scale. I have not yet traveled to that planet of jelly mountains and soda lakes but, I might not exist lol
I had wanted so bad to ever attend to a Jean Michel Jarre’s concert since I watched the Tolerance concert when I was 15 and lived 900 km away from the Antarctica, I thought that was hardly ever going to come true… I went to the Santiago de Compostela’s concert on 2010 πŸ˜€
I wanted to play music for people because I have always been so into it and was so uplifting to me that I had that feeling of showing everyone how great that was, although I was so shy and outcast lol; much later I was a dj for 5 years.
Then dreams that didn’t come true: to be an astronaut (wasn’t too realistic, was it lol), to be some sort of yuppie (somehow to be busy 24/7 looked appealing to me, of course that was silly! I wouldn’t want it unless it was doing some good to me and others, not only for the financial benefits of some multinational…). But, I lived pretty much in the stories and books I read, it was like dreaming and living themat the same time πŸ™‚ I also lived and live part of my life in dreams. They are very important to me. I think the day I don’t remember them often anymore, I will go nuts or something πŸ™

      • Diana

“somehow to be busy 24/7 looked appealing to me” LOL

      • Ahh your planet with mountains of jelly and soda lakes reminded me of my dream planet of chocolate and cakes. I used to love this fairytale, which was my number one favorite of all times and the girl from the tale get’s to go to a chocolate country where the trees were made of chocolate and lakes of marshmellow, ( sort of like willy wonka but different ), I use to dream about it every night. I wonder if in the future there will be an attraction park like a chocolate factory.

        • jt

We’ll be sure going if that ever happens!! :)))

    • You are such a wonderful person J :), so kind and caring, I am lucky to know you πŸ™‚

  • jt

Tati!! I’d like to share some feedback from your answers πŸ™‚
To me, you’re “WYSIWYG” (what you see is what you get). Even describing yourself I feel there’s “no trick”. You’re unique and lovely :))))))

Would you share a song with us?? :)))) I’d like to hear :)))) Or a poem :)You know, I used to write tales and poems too when I was a child. Some time ago I found some I thought were great, I wrote them in my early 20s (I lost all my previous stuff because I moved so often to different places until I was 18). Now I think they’re the corniest thing lol. I could extract some good stuff from them but I don’t think very highly of them anymore lol

Deepak Chopra always brings me memories from my dear auntie and her best friend. My aunt had a few books around and I remember her best friend speaking so madly in love about him lol They’re both such wonderful womans. Now that you also mention him (although he’s an internationally renowned author, but I’m not eager on figures and medals and rates and all that until I get some explanation that seems right to me), I think I’ll buy a book by him πŸ™‚

I know what it feels like to not have the life you’d want to have, and it comes in all sorts of levels, but I kind of feel sad that you didn’t developed even the desire to want something different until later in life. But it’s not when the awakening happens, but if you’re brave and determined enough to pursue your dreams. And you did πŸ™‚ You must have some very strong spiritual strength, and perhaps those years of that life that “wasn’t yours” “helped” in some way, to make you stronger.

    • Hey sweetie :), I will definitely share a song of mine in the future, I already have one in mind that I want to share, but first I have to figure out the right format of releasing it. My idea is to make a life video of some sort with my song, and I have to get it copyrighted so youtube wont’ block the video.

I think my childhood did make me very strong person, things happen as they did because they needed to happen that way, I always look back and thank my life for turning out the way it did from the very beginning.

      • jt

Looking forward to listening to your song!! Yes it’s a good idea, and “who knows” after that, eh? πŸ™‚

Have a beautiful Sunday!! πŸ™‚ Now I’m going to check your Abs challenge!! I did a couple of reintroduction routines this week, veeeeeeery soft ones, and they killed me lol. I couldn’t even hold a 1 minute plank, had to rest every 20 secs πŸ™ Anyway we’re finishing the flooring works, we’ve already finished the wall stuff, everything’s really tough… I’ll show you πŸ˜‰ Kisses!

Describe your self in 3 words:
    – curious, courteous, evil sense of humor (does a four-word adjective count as one word?)
What do you love about your self the most, what makes you unique?
    – I love that I have a positive, outgoing nature, tempered by an evil sense of humor. πŸ˜‰
What are your favorite hobby or hobbies?
    – Number one would be reading! (To satisfy all that curiosity of mine!)
What is your favorite book of the moment or favorite book of all time and why?
    – I don’t have one favorite book of all time, but at the moment I’m reading “Girl Sleuth, Nancy Drew and the Women Who Created Her” and it is strangely fascinating, even though I never read Nancy Drew as a girl. I love the descriptions of the strong women who are behind Nancy Drew and their fascinating life stories.
What dreams did you have when you were a child? Did any of those dreams came true?
    – I wanted to be a writer, actress or dancer when I grew up . . . and I do aspects of all of those things in my work and personal life, although I am a teacher and a translator not an actress, writer or dancer specifically.
    Fun questions!

    • saretta

Oh yeah, I also wanted to live abroad and have an “interesting” life . . . and I have definitely done that! πŸ™‚

    • He He He evil sense of humor :), I also have it but I think it makes us fun and people love that about us πŸ™‚

    • Kim

Saretta, If you are a teacher-you are an actress, writer and a dancer!!! It’s fun reading these and getting to know others who workout here!

  • Annebel Wind

Okay, I am going to try this.. am not so good at destribing myself most of the time πŸ˜€
Describe your self in 3 words ( It’s a question without the question mark )
    Uh… Creative, emotional, determinated

What do you love about your self the most, what makes you unique?
I have come to realise that I can do a lot and accomplish lots of things when I set my mind to it. This is the same on all kinds of earea’s in my life. I have got my own company, and tried to get further in fitness and shape my own body the way I want it to be..

What are your favorite hobby or hobbies?
singing (have taken lessons recently), painting, my work (exercise therapist) and fitness. and meditating… havent done that for a while, but like it very much..

What is your favorite book of the moment or favorite book of all time and why?
I do not read a lot.. So do not realy have one. I like movies.. So my favorite movie: Dark cristal from Jim Hanson..

What dreams did you have when you were a child? Did any of those dreams came true?
I don’t think I really had dreams for the future as a child.. I was more living in the moment.. That is wat I still try.. to live now and see all the beautiful things around me and try to enjoy this.. Don’t want to spend my life thinking and living for the future and miss what is around me allready..

    • Diana

oh wow, what is your secret of meditating? I can never do that. I always start to think… πŸ™‚

      • Annebel Wind

        Hi diana,
When you start meditating it’s normal that you start to think at least a dosen times or more in 10 min of meditation.. The key is to have a focus, it can be a meditation cd with nice sounds or music, it can be focussing on your connection with the earth/ground and imagine that you have roots sticking them into the earth.. (sounds a bit funny, but it works) You can feel the shuman resolution (that is the natural fibration of the earth, nothing spiritual about that :D) this can give a lot of relaxation.. But start with only about 10 min and don’t mind you drifting of, just get back to your focus.. The second time it goes better, the third times even better and so on… Good luck.. You can always ask any question, I will try to awnser you.. πŸ˜€

        • Diana

Thank you for your help, Annebel!!! I will definitely try to follow your ideas and I will try not to be impatient with myself if it doesn’t work!:) I guess the keyword must be patience, right? πŸ™‚
(When I was around 15 I was really interested in yoga and meditation. That time I think I was too young to do that, that is why I couldn’t really do it in the right way. Hopefully after 10 years I changed enough/calmed down to be able to start meditating…)

    • You have a very great sense of Life Annebel ( I love your name cause every time I see it, it reminds me of a beautiful fairy tale ). Living in the moment, a lot of people are trying to learn how to do that, I can do it sometimes but I need to learn to live in a moment all the time. I am happy to find out that you also meditate, I didn’t find my self until I started meditating, it had definitely changed my life.

      • Esal1

No kidding Tati!! Love Annebels name, everytime I hear it castles and beautiful maidens and heros appear in my head.

  • Diana

    Happy-happy Monday to everyone!!! πŸ™‚

    Describe yourself in 3 words:
Enthusiastic, Emotional (according to my boyfriend tooooo emotional:P), I have sometimes a very evil and sarcastic sense of humour that sometimes brings problems but luckily my close friends know me enough to know when I am joking…:)

What do you love about yourself the most, what makes you unique?
I don’t find myself unique… It might sound weird but I really don’t find anything interesting or unique in me. My brother would surely say that I can write essays/short stories in a very nice style or I have a good sense for marketing and promo campaigns… or that I can communicate easily with unknown people… but I think anyone/everyone has these skills… πŸ™‚

What are your favourite hobby or hobbies?
I love reading, learning languages and cooking… recently I got addicted to security policy and the Cold War so I am reading books in these topics. I know, I am mental… πŸ˜€

What is your favourite book of the moment or favourite book of all time and why?
Favourite book of all time is Bulgakov – The Master and Margarita or Checkov – Ward 6 or Jane Austen – Pride and Prejudice ooooor Dezs? KosztolΓ‘nyi – Pacsirta… oh, and an other HUN is LΓ‘szlΓ³ NΓ©meth – Iszony and GyΓ‘sz… probably no one knows them but these books are also really nice and have deep meaning as well! Anyway, it is so hard to decide… I have a whole list in my head… πŸ™‚

What dreams did you have when you were a child? Did any of those dreams came true?

I wanted to be a dancer when I was a little girl. Well, I could never make it but I still love watching dance contests and ice-dancing championships on TV.
Later when I got older I wanted to move abroad to try myself in a foreign country. It would mean a great adventure for me with new experiences, getting to know more cultures and to prove myself how strong I can be mentally when I am alone out there… Hm, I am still working on it but it seems this one will come true soon!:D

Have a nice week to all of you!

    • Annebel Wind

Not everyone can talk to unknown people easily or write a nice short story.. So that are very nice qualities. No human being is the same. Be proud of these qualities.. πŸ˜€

      • Diana

Well, I never thought they were special features but thank you for your nice words!:)

    • Hey Diana,

I am sure you are unique, every one of us are, trust me I can’d do any marketing campaigns nor do I quickly communicate with unknown people, which makes you have a talent at that :).

I’ve read Master and Margarita, and I have that book in Russian, but every time I read it it’s very difficult to read and I don’t quite understand everything. I found a movie and a TV series on youtube, gonna watch that maybe it will make sense to me.

      • Diana

I think I just consider these things natural or “by-default” that is why I don’t think of them as a gift…:) There are many many things I admire in others, mostly those that I miss from myself: I admire my brother for his logic and engineering skills, my mum for her handcrafting abilities or my best for patience to stud hard and become a doctor with the ability to cure people… or you for your creativity in fitness… πŸ™‚ But to find something that is unique in myself I would have to see/think myself from the outside.

I really like Russian literature. Unfortunately I cannot read it in original… In my country Russian artists are really appreciated and we learn about them a lot. I loved the atmosphere of Master and Margarita that is why it is so memorable for me. πŸ™‚ I will definitely try the Deepak Chopra book!:)

        • Evaleen

I’ve also felt a bit saddened in the past by my own “lack of talents”… but when I think about what I myself appreciate the most in others, it’s not those things nearly as much as how big their heart is, and how open they are with it. That may not be “unique” per se, but it’s certainly special πŸ™‚ and you definitely seem like such a person: kind, sweet, easy to talk to. And I do agree with Tati, that we’re all unique in our nature… but yeah, it’d also be great to stand out sometimes, to possess and be recognized for unique qualities. But you know what, sometimes our greatest features are the obvious ones, πŸ˜‰ things that are simply taken for granted, except by those who appreciate them the most (i.e., the people that love and need us).

    Me in 3 words:
    Honest, Reliable, Patient

    What makes me unique?
My eyes. I get a lot of comments about how blue they are and how one pupil droops.

    My favorite hobbies:
Exercising-your workouts, biking, jogging, x-country skiing, snowshoeing, geocaching. I also love to create with my hands-sew, scrapbook, and woodwork. I like to turn old junk into something to decorate my house with. I like to read fitness blogs and “pin” stuff!

    My favorite book:

I really loved The Help by Kathryn Stockett. I recommend listening to it on audio-the voices are so authentic.

    My dreams came true:

When I was in 5th grade (years ago) our teacher had us create a time capsule. One piece we had to put in was a piece of writing where we told what our hopes and dreams were for the future. When we graduated high school, we opened the capsule. Here’s what I wrote: When I grow up, I want to be a cashier, a teacher and a mother. I did all three! I loved being a cashier in an old country store and then later in a video store. I had 2 beautiful daughters and I became a teacher after they were born and love my job teaching second grade and kept going to school and now also teach at the University in addition to teaching second grade. Although I love what I do, some days, I’d love the simplicity of being a cashier! When I was done my shift, I was done, unlike teaching!

    • That is so awesome, it’s an amazing feeling to know that all of our dreams do come true, I can totally imagine how hard it is to be a teacher, I am sure you could really use your patience here.

***Describe your self in 3 words
    1. ambitious

***What do you love about your self the most, what makes you unique?
Maybe its the combination of my ambition and my dreamery πŸ™‚

***What are your favorite hobby or hobbies?
Of course fitness, sports and wellness. Besides, reading, going out in nature, having long and passtionate discussions, movies….

***What is your favorite book of the moment or favorite book of all time and why?
    That’s a lot :D!
    Two of them:
-Three minutes with reality (actually a German title)
    -Focaults Pendulum
    – and almost everything of Umberto Eco …

***What dreams did you have when you were a child? Did any of those dreams came true?
I had soooo many dreams! When I was little, I wanted to become an archeologist, then
I wanted to become an attorney, but now I am studying economics and am really happy with it πŸ˜€ !So, I can say, I am on my way to make my dreams come true πŸ™‚
The other dreams I had when I was a child will probably never come true as I wanted to be a fairy or something similar… but I think I am happy without being a fairy πŸ™‚

    • The law of attraction never surprises me, so many of us have so many similarities. All of us here are creative dreamers and some of us such as you and me want to be fairies. Love that πŸ™‚

  • Describe your self in 3 words:
Hmmm…this can be hard because sometimes we are driven to think of 3 words that are as we would LIKE to be, but I’ll give it a shot!
    Focused. Eager. Loyal.
I would add “silly” in there as a fourth. I say focused because when I find something I like I delve in head-on; however, I can easily be not focused if I’m not engaged (like now, at work, LOL!). I can also be stubborn, but “focused” seemed more positive! I’m always looking for the next thing. I like to always expand myself in new ways with each new creative endeavor I encounter. And I’m loyal. I’m not one with loads and loads of friends; but those I give my heart to I truly trust and put complete trust in.
What do you love about your self the most, what makes you unique?
I think I am a very empathetic person. Part of it is a good quality for my work, but I can usually always understand someone’s motives for behavior, and sympathize with it to a certain degree.
What are your favorite hobby or hobbies?
It used to be aerial silk, but I got too busy with my life to do that! So I guess now you could say it’s fitness, but it’s also personal development, spiritual, emotional and physical.
What is your favorite book of the moment or favorite book of all time and why?
Hmmm…this changes a lot, but…right now it’s “Dry” by Augusten Burroughs. He is so tender and sweet and wickedly funny in his writings. I recently re-read this book because I wanted some emotional support while I attempted to cut back a lot on my alcohol intake. His writing is good for its own sake, but something about reading about his struggle, which was both very tragic and, in the way he writes about it, very very funny, turned a switch off in my brain. I’m not swearing off alcohol entirely, but I’m proud to say I don’t really want to drink like I used to. I also love his other books. Also have to throw David Sedaris into the mix. And for literature, I love anything by Thomas Hardy.

What dreams did you have when you were a child? Did any of those dreams came true?
I had lots of dreams, and one of them DID come true: to become an actress. That’s my work now, and I feel blessed every day to have a career I love. I also used to dream I could make things happen, like a witch, and although it’s a different perspective, LOA has helped with some of that as well.
However, I still wish there were a secret door in my basement to a secret world, or a castle in the sky I could visit…sigh…

    • Esal1

Totally get the door in the basement. I spent untold hours in the belief that if I imagined it as vividly as possible I could somehow get there.

      • MEEE TOOOOO!!! LOL. I would occasionally sneak down to see if one had appeared. And then when it hadn’t, I would look away and look back again!!! I had read both The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe and also this other story called The Door in the Wall that planted that idea in my head. Imagination, esp during childhood, is a wonderful thing, bittersweet as it can be. πŸ™‚

      • πŸ™‚ I want a door like that too πŸ™‚

    • OMG Kendra I absolutely adore you! Have you read Augusten Burroughs “Running With Scissors “, the movie was OK but I still liked it but the book, omg it was so dramatic and funny at the same time, I laughed through the whole thing even though I wanted to cry, if you know what I mean.

I remember you telling me a while that you did aerial silks, I actually went last Saturday, and surprisingly I was still quite strong and could do a lot of things, even though it’s been about 2 years since I was up there. I’m gonna start going every other Sat to do aerial tissue again.

I didn’t know you were an actress, that is so so cool!!! We have such similar personalities, you seem like such a dreamer I am the same way, but I think it’s a beautiful thing to be like that, it’s like we still have the spirit of a child πŸ™‚

      • OMG YES I LOVE Running With Scissors, and in fact, today I just re-bought it because I used to own it and must have lost it. His writing always teeters on the edge of silliness and tears, so of course I know what you mean about wanting to cry! My sister gave it to me about 10 or 15 years ago because she knew his older brother in college. I highly recommend everything he writes!

Yes, I miss aerial silks! I started at a time when I wasn’t getting any acting work, and it really helped me take control of my creativity and how I express myself. With acting, it can be frustrating because you can’t just get up and do it–at least not without a lot of effort. But it was sooo wonderful and fun and strength-building. But then my teacher moved away, and I started getting too busy. And it’s hard to just pick it up–you have to do it consistently.

Thanks for your kind words! It’s so flattering, because of course I adore you too!

    • I have all the books and CD box sets of David Sedaris. If I want to pee myself laughing, I go on Youtube and listen to the “Staduim pal” or “You can’t kill the rooster”

      • I don’t know those–I’ll check them out! Thanks for the recommendation! I love his dry delivery…one of my favorites of his orally is listening to his rendition of “Away in a Manger” sung in the style of Billie Holiday in Santaland Diaries.

        • Lol, I enjoy his humour immersely. I thought I was going to be kicked off a plane while reading “When You are Engulfed in Flame”. I was getting the “she most be crazy” look from my fellow travellers for giggle.

Describe your self in 3 words ( It’s a question without the question mark ) Just, Thoughtful, Lucky

What do you love about your self the most, what makes you unique? Everybody is unique, which makes me utterly normal. What do I love about myself???……………. I am a fighter, like Rocky it doesn’t matter how many times I go down or how hard, I will get back up and keep going.

What dreams did you have when you were a child? Did any of those dreams came true? Had more dreams then I could possibly recount. Some did come true, although they were not what I dreamed they would be. Some came close. Some came very close. Some not in the same universe (literally).

    • I think we have to dream in detail, the more detail we give to the universe the more detail we receive πŸ™‚

  • Describe your self in 3 words.
    Goofy, caring, and sarcastic.
What do you love about your self the most, what makes you unique?

  • Courtney

    I love these.

    1. Witty. Passionate. Introverted.
    2. I love my eyes; each is a different shade of green. One is blue-green and the other is gold-green.
    3. I used to play the oboe, and I still have the ability to play, but it’s been over a year since I practiced. I need to pick it back up again, I just haven’t. But my current hobby is reading. I love to read. I used to loathe assigned reading in school and now that it’s not assigned I want to read as many books as possible.
    4. Up until this summer my favorite book of all time was Prodigal Summer by Barbara Kingsolver, but this summer I started A Song of Ice and Fire by George R.R. Martin and no book series will be able to compare again. I can’t pick a favorite one because the story is just phenomenal. I just finished A Dance with Dragons and I’m still in mourning over finishing it and not having a sixth book to immediately jump to. In the meantime, I’ve started Anne Bronte’s The Tenant of Wildfell Hall. I like it so far, but I’m only a few chapters in.

    5. I honestly can’t remember what I dreamed of being when I was a child. I don’t think I thought much of the future. I recall praying and asking God to make me the Pink Power Ranger. Does that count as a dream? πŸ™‚

    • Did you get your pink power ranger :)?

      • Courtney

Not yet. I’m still working on that one. The workouts are definitely helping, though. πŸ˜‰

        • :), he he he it’s never too late πŸ™‚

    • Evaleen

Awwww lol, that’s got to be the cutest prayer I’ve ever heard of. :p I think I wanted that too, except it was the yellow ranger– cause my sister already took dibs on being the pink one!!! Pfff, so unfair -_- pink was MY favorite color…

  • AlishisPhillips

Describe your self in 3 words
Down to earth. Well, I’d go on but that’s 3 words that someone used to describe me so I’ve reached my max πŸ˜‰
What do you love about your self the most, what makes you unique?
I always try to see the good in people. Its gotten me in trouble in the past, but I always ALWAYS try to see the good, positive in people.
What are your favorite hobby or hobbies?
Working out, watercolors and my dog. That sounds funny, but my dog is in training, and its a continual, rewarding process.
What is your favorite book of the moment or favorite book of all time and why?
The Good Earth. Its a book that makes you realize how complicated life is, but how simple it should be. That’s what I got from it anyway.

What dreams did you have when you were a child? Did any of those dreams came true?
Oddly enough, I wanted to be a lawyer. (I watched a lot of Matlock and Columbo, Law & Order, and got a romanticized idea of the legal field. The true reason for that dream though was because we were poor and I always saw my mom grocery shopping with a calculator. My true dream was to go grocery shopping and NOT need a calculator. Lawyers make bank, and as a child I knew that!) I ended up becoming a legal secretary, was studying to become a paralegal and decided the legal field was too corrupt and backwards for me. Then my dreams became more like “What can I do that I love that will also pay the bills?” So I was licensed in massage and Esthetics. I get to make people happy and feel good πŸ™‚

    • You have it down pretty well, when we ask a question ” What can I do that I love and it would also pay bills “, we always find that someone. I think we are all here to do what we love, I think it’s one of big secrets to life, do what you love and eventually you won’t have to think about paying the bills.

  • Evaleen

    1. Describe yourself in 3 words
Passionate (in what I feel and believe in), creative, and adventurer (of sorts :p).

    2. What do you love about yourself the most, what makes you unique?
Can’t say I exactly love anything about myself, though I’m generally happy and at peace with who I am. I don’t really require much either, and can be content with only simple things. πŸ™‚ But one thing I do feel great about, is the happiness I can give to my friends, through kindness and loyalty without conditions.

    3. What are your favorite hobby or hobbies?
Doing workouts (obviously lol) and creating them, cooking/baking/nutrition (or in a nutshell: food!!! :D), designing clothes, hiking, gaming, and writing of any kind.

    4. What is your favorite book of the moment or favorite book of all time and why?
Favorite is Lonesome Dove by Larry McMurtry… emotionally raw, realistically brutal, full of humor and wit, so heart-breaking and devastating at times. It’s such a “human” story, with beautifully written characters that I just loved to bits, for all their qualities and flaws. And my second favorite I think, is Wings Of the Falcon by Barbara Michaels… it very much appealed to my sense of romance adventure when I was real young (and still does).

    5. What dreams did you have when you were a child? Did any of those dreams came true?
My aspirational dreams have been too many to count (some of them weren’t even set in reality lol), but now that I’ve grown up, I realize I don’t really want most of those things. I always did dream “big” though– even in my literal dreams it’d be all fantastic, outlandish, or otherworldly things.

    • I think we all have some outlandish and otherworldly things we dream about. I still want to meet another me from another dimension, or at least would be cool if I could just meet an alien, I’d be just as happy πŸ™‚

  • Yes Malta looks like a paradise :), you can definitely make that dream come true pretty fast πŸ™‚

  • Vanessa Inserra

I love this!! thank you for putting this together, Tati!! Brilliant:0)
3 words that descripe me: witty, pragmatic, loving
what I like about myself/what makes me unique? I’m very quick ‘on my feet’ so it allows me to feel confindent it whatever I take on.
hobbies? I’ve sort of lost sight of my hobbies. Just starting to rediscover them. Running and being active, for sure. Will keep you all posted on whatelse I discover.
Favorite book: if you are looking for something funny and light to read, my all time favorite is “LAMB; Jesus’ Childhood Friend’ by Christopher Moore. He is a very funny author.
What did I want to do when I was a kid? The earliest I remember was when I was in grade 9, about 14 years old. I was with my guidance counsellor and when he asked my what I wanted to do, I said helping people, as in therapy. He said I would never make it and suggested I get into accounting as I was very good at math. I listened and got my CPA and worked in accounting for several years, hating every minute of it! At 33 years old, after leaving a very long abusive relationship, I went back to school. I am now a trauma therapist. Private practise and specialize in working with survivors of violence, mainly women and children. Although the road was longer than planned, I ended up exactly where I am suppose to be. I am grateful!!

    • That is an incredible story… I think when we are too young we don’t listen to our hearts, we just act upon our instincts at the moment and a lot of us don’t do what we are meant to do, and that’s what we love. Then we grow up and figure that out. I am so happy you are now doing what you love :).

  • Katerina

I am persistent (stubborn at times), cautious and realistic.

My stubbornness (or persistence) is the thing that I love about me the most. Even though it isn’t always god for me I think this characteristic of mine is the most unique thing about me.

I have been singing for as long as I can remember. I grew up listening to Queen and the Beatles. I love music and I couldn’t go a whole day without it. Incredible as it is to me, fitness is now one of my favorite hobbies as well, and I am very passionate about it πŸ™‚

At the time, my favorite book is Osho’s “Emotional Wellness”.

As a child I dreamed of been a singer. That dream didn’t come true, but I learned to play the guitar so I quite happy with that accomplishment. Later on, as a student, I discovered that I love teaching. Unfortunately, I am not able to work as a teacher because there are no available positions in my town, but I am not losing hope πŸ™‚

    • You will definitely become a teacher, don’t ever lose hope, I think when we don’t get things we dream about right away it’s because it awaits us and tests us do we really want it.

      • Katerina

I just so my post and your wonderful reply. I apologize for posting twice. Thank you for your kind words.

  • Naomi

Describe your self in 3 words:
    Curious. Tolerant. Spitfire.
What do you love about your self the most, what makes you unique?
I am gonna sound terribly narcissistic, but I love the whole me the most. Both my good qualities and my bad are what makes me “ME”. Knowing yourself and accepting yourself also gives you the opportunity to grow.
What are your favorite hobby or hobbies?
Life. I enjoy most aspects of life and find it terribly hard to define just a couple of hobbies. I seriously never felt comfortable with the word either, it is very “boxy”. I don’t want to be known or defined by either my job or what I do in my spare time.
What is your favorite book of the moment or favorite book of all time and why?
Gosh, that’s a hard question. I just finished the 5th book in George Martin’s Song of Fire and Ice series and I am eagerly awaiting the sixth. I am looking forward to reading the last book of Haruki Murakami’s 1Q84 as well. I was such a book worm growing up… I love so many things, but my favorite authors include Murakami and John Irving. Thoughtful, but a bit fantastical and ultimately about life.
What dreams did you have when you were a child? Did any of those dreams came true?
I had plenty of dreams – including more unrealistic ones like becoming famous and more realistic ones like becoming a veterinarian, arcitect (I used to draw tyroler houses from Switzerland), astronomer, designer, pianist, artist and so on. I didn’t become any of those, but it doesn’t bother me much. I try to enjoy being here and now instead of planning for the future all the time. I think people nowadays are always hurrying against some undefined point of betterness in the future. They are too busy becoming instead of just being.

    • Ohh yes I agree, we all need to focus on now and not so much live in the future. I can be guilty of that at times my self, but I’ve became better over the years, just trying to stay in a moment.

    • Tryste

Spitfire. I love it! And I think all of those qualities are really positive.
I wouldn’t feel narcissistic about saying that you love the whole you the most. Why shouldn’t you? Most people have to work so hard to get to that place psychologically and emotionally, so I think you should just feel proud if you’re there already. Love yourself, girl, and don’t worry about making any apologies for it, I say! πŸ™‚

And I think there is definite wisdom in your thoughts about dreams. I agree that taking in the present and just “being” is so important, and something that I sometimes find hard to do. Thank you for reminding me to focus on that today.

      • Naomi

πŸ™‚ Thanks for telling me not to make apologies, I am a little wary of sounding too self-assured to the extent that I put people off. I was brought up in a culture where you are not supposed to be better than others or distinguish yourself in any way.

    • Trust me girly, I think it’s quite easy in our world to become famous. It surprises me that some people are as famous as they are for doing absolutely nothing, or just doing something silly like make a singing on a toilet video. It makes me wonder at times, what happen of the good old Hollywood Way of becoming famous, with all that glamour and hard work.

      • Naomi

You are so right about the easy road to fame. Fame for fame’s sake is something else than fame as a side effect. I suddenly felt like watching some old Garbo and Dietrich movies.

    • You have to love the whole of you. If you don’t who else would.

  • sus

I have been a day late on these…but here are my answers

    1) artsy, shy, strong-willed

    2) I am free

    3) designing, fitness, cooking, baking, sewing, reading, going on walks with my husband, praying

    4) of all time the Bible, I also love the circle trilogy by ted Dekker, anything by C.S. Lewis, and Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austin (love that one!)

    5) my dream as a child was to be a mom. and it still is a dream but hasn’t come true yet. But at 15, I wanted to do something in the fashion design industry and I am fulfilling that dream right now and love it!

    • Hey Susu,

I’ve only read some of the Bible, I know it’s one of the best books written and I am gonna get around reading the whole thing one of these days.

    • I’m with you on C.S.Lewis

      • sus

        I love his stuff…he is a genius.

  • yboog

Describe your self in 3 words
    hot, funny, compassionate
What do you love about your self the most, what makes you unique?
I love that I have the ability to keep things simple in my life. Although I am a big fan of schedules, these schedules allow me to make the most of my time and inner energy, they help me make time for what is most important to me, my health and my family.
What are your favorite hobby or hobbies?
I raise orchids (I have 8 beautiful healthy ones)
What is your favorite book of the moment or favorite book of all time and why?
One hundred years of solitude by Gabriel GarcΓa MΓ‘rquez. I love it because it incorporates history, love, life contradictions and humor all in one. I read it in college and had to basically dissect the whole thing over and over again, and I LOVED it every time!
What dreams did you have when you were a child? Did any of those dreams came true?

My aunty was my pre -school teacher…I always dreamed to teach… I now am a high school Spanish teacher <3

    • OMG you raise orchids, how cool is that! I tried to grow plants but even cactuses die on me πŸ™

      • yboog

Hhhhhmmmmmmmmm, yeah plants can be very particular to temperature, air, draft, amount of water, and amount of light exposure. Plus u have to actually care about them and sometimes say nice things. As all living things do, they can sense love <3

        • I’m gonna keep trying, I want to start growing an herb garden either at my house or in my back yard. I just love the idea of growing your own foods.

          • yboog

            You can do it!!!
You can start with a small pot of basil, oregano, or maybe rosemary (but you can only have em for the rest of summer. Those are pretty happy and easy all shine plants! I love walking out to my porch and picking basil for my pasta or homemade pizza! When I have a yard, I will definitely have a garden!

    • Orchids are my second favorite flowers. I brought an orchid plant for my mother- in-law 2 years ago and that plant is still alive. It bloomed last year and again this year to our surprise.

      • yboog

Yes, they are like women (look closely inside, the flower has a clitoris). They pick and choose when they will bloom but when the flower opens it is the most beautiful sight in the home especially when there is snow outside!
It takes patience to deal with them just cause they sit so long with just their leaves…just gotta keep loving them no matter what <3
I have 1 that has not bloomed in so long that I forgot what her flower looks like! She is my shy baby : )

        • I must have brought a really fertile one. Now I’m curious to take a closer look inside. I hope she blooms next year.

  • Katerina

    Hi Tatiana,

I posted earlier but I don’t see my post anymore… Sorry if this comes up twice.

Describe your self in 3 words – Persistent, cautious, realistic.

What do you love about your self the most, what makes you unique? – I think my persistence is what makes me unique. Even though it often comes down to just being stubborn, I love that giving up is rarely an option for me.

What are your favorite hobby or hobbies? – I love to sing, and I have been singing for as long as I can remember. I love listening to music and I often get obsessed with artists. I used to be addicted to Queen and now I am a huge Depeche Mode fan. Thanks to amazing people like yourself, fitness is now one of my favorite hobbies πŸ˜‰

What is your favorite book of the moment or favorite book of all time and why? – I am not much of a reader, but at the moment I’m reading Osho’s “Emotional Wellness”.

What dreams did you have when you were a child? Did any of those dreams came true? – I dreamed of being a singer when I was a child and later on, I discovered I love teaching. Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to find a job as a teacher. In my country unemployment is a huge issue and there tons of teachers looking for a job. Still, I am not giving up and I plan to continue to teach part time as I have been doing for a few years now.

Thank you for this wonderful topic πŸ™‚
p.s. I am sooo sore from the “Electric Beat” workout. I just LOVED it πŸ™‚

Some of the comments can come up with delay but I am pretty sure it’s around here somewhere :). I only modify first time commenters to avoid spammers with their spammy links, but once you post 1 time, next time it just goes through cause I add everyone to white list. Hey guys! This is my first Monday Mingle with you all, and I’m totally thrilled. So I’ll just jump right in:

    1. Open. Bright. Passionate!

    2. Like everyone, what makes me different is my own special brand of energy. I think what I put out into the world on most days is a strong mix of enthusiasm, intense passion, warmth, intelligence and goofiness. I care a lot about what I do and about the world around me, and I try to engage as much as I can with that and with the people that surround me. I’m the kind of person who will always look you in the eye and try to see YOU, and will do her best to have her eyes open in and to the world. What I value most about myself is that: being switched on and connected. Or at least trying my hardest to be! And I like to share in the beauty and fun of this world and savor both moments and memories with the people I’m lucky enough to have with me in my life.

Also, although I’m generally quite a serious person, I have a warm and completely goofy side to me too that I’m not afraid to let show. If I’m excited about something, I can’t hide it; there most likely will be physical bouncing πŸ™‚

    3. FItness – doing my workouts and training hard to climb mountains. That always comes first, and I balance it out with handcrafts (knitting and crochet) and a love for chilling out with TV series, podcasts and the occasional audio book. When the weather is actually nice where I live (Hamburg, Germany), I like to hit the park and take my poi with me. I spin all kinds: “regular”, sock, flag, fire, you name it. I also absolutely ADORE dancing, which I do as much as possible, even if it’s only in my own bedroom. My favorite kinds of music for that are rock/metal, indie, goth/industrial and some pop/hiphop.

    4. I used to be a total bookworm when I was younger, but these days my free time is taken up by far too many other things. When I make the time to read, the books I choose mainly have to do with hiking, fitness and mountaineering. If I had to choose a favorite, though, I’d have to go with a book called “This is Not a Book” by Keri Smith. It’s not a storybook or even non-fiction, but a fun, funny and in my opinion ingenious guide that can help people explore their imaginations and world around them.

    • Hi Tryste,

It’s very nice to meet you! I am happy you are joining us for our Monday Mingles now :). You seem like a very fun and positive person, makes me very happy to know that our community is growing every day and we are meeting such wonderful people like your self.

  • Tryste

Oops, and I totally forgot to answer question 5:

I remember my childhood dreams clearly, especially my first one: to become a mermaid. Sadly, that one never came true. πŸ˜‰

The second was to become a ballerina, but my family didn’t have the money to send me to lessons. I never learned to dance, but I grew up to become a passionate dancer anyway, and a performer as well. Nothing classical or big-time, but the work I’ve done has been fun and fulfilling nonetheless.

One dream that I had as a child that DID come true was about seeing the world — specifically, to visit Scotland. When I was 18, I moved there to go to university, and I spent a total of 5 years living in St Andrews and Edinburgh during my undergrad and postgraduate studies. I’m still here in Europe and have done a fair bit of traveling since I left the States — still doing as much as I can to explore and live the dream. πŸ™‚

    • I want to be a Mermaid too :), why not, I think fairy tales are wonderful and they keep our ability to dream open. I bet it was amazing to visit Scotland, especially at such a young age. I want to see the world as well, and experience different cultures and foods.

  • midimidi

i love that I am able to see the positive in people and situations…it took a lot of practice
I love swimming reading and cooking and doodling
I love the confederacy of dunces it’s funny and reminds me of myself.
I thought I would be a mom yes it came true!

    • How old is your baby Midi?

      • midimidi

i have two babies! ha ha, 4 and 6! they crack me up and are the nicest company!

        • That is so cute :), they are good age apart too πŸ™‚

  • I’m late to the mingle this week…better late than never.

    1) Describe yourself in 3 words:

    – Quiet, almost a loner in this regard.

    – Meticulous.
    – Funny. I just started to realise that what I say and how I say it, is funny. People were telling me I was funny, I never got it until recently.

    2) What do you love about your self the most, what makes you unique?

    – I don’t get stress easily. I can adapt to any situation.

    3) What are your favorite hobby or hobbies?

    – I love travelling. I like to travel by myself. Usually every year I pick a destination and visit on my own. New York City has been the favorite the last 3 years.
    – Reading and cooking holds the same passion in me as travelling.

    4) What is your favorite book of the moment or favorite book of all time and why?

    – The Brief Wonderous Life of Oscar Wao by Junot Diaz. My heart ached for Oscar the protagonist in the story. I weep all through the book. I finished this book on a driving trip through Eastern Canada, my husband had to pull to the side of the road to console me. I could not stop crying, I had physical pains.

    – The Pleasure Of My Company by Steve Martin. The life experience of Oscar Wao left me raw, but the life of Daniel gave me hope. I was joyous at the outcome for Daniel.
    5) What dreams did you have when you were a child? Did any of those dreams came true?
    – I wanted to be happy. As a child I hade a strange melancholy to me that I could not shake off. I have to say my dream of happiness did come true in adulthood.

    • You are so poetic, that’s beautiful!! I am like that too, but sometimes it can become too much for me cause I feel everything around and it makes me very emotional all the time. I am still working on not stressing too easily, that is one of my biggest problems.

      • I understand your point. I sometime have to purposely isolate myself for my own benefit, but you know what I would not want to change that aspect of my life experience.

  • The so called classics are hard for me to read too.

  • Totally late for this, but here goes…
    1. I’ve had people describe me as a very passionate person
Very funny twisted sense of humor. Laughter is like medicine to me.

    2. I love that when I believe in something, whatever it is, I go after it, live it, do it, etc… with my whole heart. I’m not a half way kind of person.

    3. Teaching group fitness (one of my dearest loves), mountain biking, snow skiing, hiking, camping, reading, learning, and I also am a cosmetologist (I’ve been beautifying people for almost 20 years), oh and I also love putting outfits together. (that’s my creative side coming out, I love fashion)

    4. I just can’t choose a favorite book right now. I love so many. πŸ™‚

    5. My dream as a young child you wouldn’t believe. The earliest one I had is one my Grandma likes retelling. I wanted to have 100 kids! lol! Too funny. Later, I wanted to be a teacher (that one came true in a round about way), nurse and an artist. No, I’m not a nurse, nor am I an artist in the formal sense, but my daughter is an incredible artist. And I believe art does come in all forms. I love creating beautiful colors, cuts, and styles that are unique to the individual and lets their best features come shining through. I also love the art that goes into creating beauty with clothing. So I guess in a way that one did come true. πŸ™‚

    • That’s beautiful, you are so artistic, I love that! I was reading your comment and I could just feel it, I am a big lover of creativity and art and I love how you said that art comes in all forms and your daughter is an artist, very beautifully said.

Yeah 100 kids that would definitely get you a reality show!

    • Hey Christian,

I too always admit when I am wrong, I don’t think any of us can ever be perfect and we all have to admit our faults.

I’ve been wanting to get into gardening, but every time I try all the plants die on me and I feel bad to keep torturing them like that.

      Have a wonderful weekend!

      • Christian

Plants use to die on me too. Thanks to my in laws and hubby, they got me in to gardening. Am not that good at it yet, but i’m learning! Its such a nice feeling picking from your garden. The spices test and smell much better than store bought! Star maybe with something like Basil or Rosemaries.

  • OMG My Lovies, I just noticed all the comments, I will check them all out in the morning, I’m running to bed now :),

  • You are so funny, that’s what I always say about kids, they are cute when they are far away and don’t belong to me, LOL. My husband wanted 6 in the beginning, now he is willing to settle for 2, me well maybe 1 in a few years and I would probably have to be hypnotized for it, LOL. But I think it’s a beautiful thing to watch how some women change beautifully and become more enlightened I guess when they have kinds, gosh I hope it could happen to me.

  • Wow, you must be so strong! I can’t even imagine what it’s like to have cancer and when I meet people who recover from it I always admire their strength. I can feel that you are a very happy and at piece person, I think life gives us these lessons to show us how strong we can be. I am so happy that you recovered !!!
