Emotions & Swinging It Up

Feb 20, 2011 by

Emotions are our navigation’s through life.  I believe that emotions are the keys to the outside world as well as our inner self.   Some people  seem to think  that suppressing certain emotion will give them more peaceful life.
But I believe that is quite the opposite.   Suppressing emotions to me is similar to drinking coffee, you can have as many cups as you like,  but sure as hell you are going to have a freak out.
I found this amazing quote I want to share by Thomas D. Willhite:

“Having a strong desire or being successful does not mean that you are going to feel great all the time. No matter how enlightened I become, I will not be positive all the time. You have to understand the swing of the pendulum. It must swing back and forth. The only other alternative is to sit still in neutral, which is precisely what most people do.”

It is true,  most people think that by being neutral is what going to help them keep it all together.
I’ve never been neutral towards anything in my life,  I ether feel passionate about something or I completely don’t care for it.   And before I use to curse my self for it.  I use to think, why is it always have to be high up or really low down,  why can’t I be like normal people and be neutral.   But now I understand the swing of the pendulum,   in fact I learned to take advantage of it.   I exploit my negative emotions to bring me to light,   and once I reach that light I have a feeling of accomplishment,  and that makes me feel positive.
Positive emotions keep us grounded and make us appreciate life,  while negative emotions make us think and teaches us to navigating through.

Swing it up it’s part of living!

Another thought for the day 🙂
